There is nothing more frustrating than looking at job boards and seeing all the open positions, especially when your cover letter and resume are ignored. As you drive through the business districts of any town, you can’t help but notice all the ‘Help Wanted’ signs. Why is it so hard to get the interviews you need if there are so many companies looking for workers? Why is your resume being passed over time and time again? Is it so hard to find a job?
Observe one thing: many employers and hiring managers do not intend to fill all those job openings. Most promotions are internal. Others simply collect resumes on a regular basis so they have a pool of candidates to draw from when a position opens up.
This results in a less open job market as it might seem on the surface. Don’t assume that your job search is any harder than any other job seeker’s. You’re all competing for a finite number of jobs.
